Web Services wiki http://apiwebservices.posterous.com Everything you wanted to know about web, but were afraid to ask. posterous.com Thu, 18 Aug 2011 07:46:58 -0700 What's a vCard? http://apiwebservices.posterous.com/whats-a-vcard http://apiwebservices.posterous.com/whats-a-vcard Some of your sites have a little contact card icon and say "Download vCard." What is that?
Vcard

A vCard is a tiny file that stores contact information. It's a virtual business card that can be downloaded and opened by any email program. Since the email program can read the info, it saves time. You no longer have to copy and paste the address, phone number and email address to save information you need.

Thu, 18 Aug 2011 07:21:00 -0700 Does the color in the animal name change once you look at that animal? http://apiwebservices.posterous.com/does-the-color-in-the-animal-name-change-once http://apiwebservices.posterous.com/does-the-color-in-the-animal-name-change-once
Yes, they do. The Web Services team generally programs 4 different colors or decorations on a link.

Donors, bulls and any other text that has a link will have several states. The two most noticed are the original link color and a visited link color. Once you have clicked on a link, it will change color so you can tell at a glance which animals you have looked at and which ones are still new.

Experiment! Go ahead and give it a try. I'll be right here. http://www.woodhillfarms.com/bulls.html

You may have noticed several color changes on the links when you looked at it, put your mouse over the links, clicked on it, and come back to the page a second time.

Here's the original link state for Woodhill Foresight:

If you hover over the name (put your mouse over the link, but don't click), it changes color:

And the same happens when you hover over his picture.

When you click on the name, you'll briefly see it flash an even brighter green:

And finally, after you've visited his page, his name turns purple.

This is handy when you have a big list. Can you tell which bulls I have read about?

Congratulations! You can explain to anyone how links behave. Know someone else who asked this question? Share this page using the Twitter or Facebook buttons below.
